Tim Tebow, this year's winner of the Heisman Trophy, college football's most coveted award--and the only sophomore ever to win it, was home schooled.
Just thought I'd mention it.

You are welcome to post at this blog. You are asked, however, to refrain from the following:
1. Name-calling;
2. Questioning the motives or integrity of people you have never met just because you disagree with them;
3. Using obscenities or other expressions not appropriate or necessary to civilized discussion;
4. Taking disagreement personally;
5. Demeaning or insulting remarks.
The host will attempt to abide by the same rules and only asks that you not provide him with the temptation to do so in return by violating them.
Failure to comply with these rules can result (depending solely on the arbitrary and inscrutable will of the host) in the deletion of offending posts and suspension of posting privileges. Such measures are more likely if you post anonymously.

ReplyDeleteSo...what marketable skills will this homeschooled kid have when he's too old to play football, or doesn't make the pros?
ReplyDeleteUmmm, let's see...a wide range of knowledge, the ability to think, and a high degree of self-discipline?
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be assuming that home school students are somehow deficient in these areas. I guess you haven't seen the test score comparisons? You might also not have noticed that public schools routinely graduate functional illiterates.
Being a UK student, I didn't really like Tim Tebow because of the team he plays for (*cough* FLORIDA *cough*), but then I learned this fact about his education, and suddenly I felt as if I had met another brother.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, did your link get cut off? I copied-and-pasted as far as it went, but Yahoo gave an error message suggesting that the page had expired.
