Science Fiction Writer Orson Scott Card on Intelligent Design

You are welcome to post at this blog. You are asked, however, to refrain from the following:
1. Name-calling;
2. Questioning the motives or integrity of people you have never met just because you disagree with them;
3. Using obscenities or other expressions not appropriate or necessary to civilized discussion;
4. Taking disagreement personally;
5. Demeaning or insulting remarks.
The host will attempt to abide by the same rules and only asks that you not provide him with the temptation to do so in return by violating them.
Failure to comply with these rules can result (depending solely on the arbitrary and inscrutable will of the host) in the deletion of offending posts and suspension of posting privileges. Such measures are more likely if you post anonymously.

ReplyDeleteWhy should we care what Orson Scott Card has to say about intelligent design creationism or evolution? Does this "science fiction author" have any qualifications in biology or other sciences? Check out his wikipedia page. Anyone can have an opinion on anything, but he does not demonstrate any real knowledge of the subject.
ReplyDeleteI suppose someone could respond by asking why we should care about what an anonymous person on the comments section of a blog has to say about what Orson Scott Card has to say about intelligent design too, couldn't they? Particularly when than anonymous person does not demonstrate any real knowledge of the subject.
ReplyDeleteOh, and at least Orson Scott Card has a Wikipedia page. I can't find one for an "anomymous".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOf course once again Martin does not really reply to questions.
ReplyDeleteAre sources like Orson Scott Card where your "knowledge" of science comes from?
"Anonymous" is a choice you give for posting. If it really hurts you when people pick it, you could eliminate it as an option. On the internet you can make up any name you like. If I signed with a fake name would you feel better?
Thank you for the web reference. Funny thing though, there is nothing there about scientific expertise.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like maybe you are the same "Anonymous" (there are so many of you using the same name, it gets confusing) who has already asked me what science material I read, and I gave an answer. I, then, asked you what works on logic you were reading, since you were attempting to use it on this blog (in contrast with myself, who have made no statements requiring scientific expertise), and you never gave me an answer.
Still waiting...
