Obama getting a pass

You are welcome to post at this blog. You are asked, however, to refrain from the following:
1. Name-calling;
2. Questioning the motives or integrity of people you have never met just because you disagree with them;
3. Using obscenities or other expressions not appropriate or necessary to civilized discussion;
4. Taking disagreement personally;
5. Demeaning or insulting remarks.
The host will attempt to abide by the same rules and only asks that you not provide him with the temptation to do so in return by violating them.
Failure to comply with these rules can result (depending solely on the arbitrary and inscrutable will of the host) in the deletion of offending posts and suspension of posting privileges. Such measures are more likely if you post anonymously.
Speaking of passes, I want to know why no one is talking about the efforts McCain made on behalf of the people who attacked the WTC and the Pentagon. His actions went way beyond sitting in a room - he actively helped to arm and train these people.
ReplyDeleteHas he ever apologized for or in any way whatsoever rationalized his actions?
What sort of coverage would you like to see?
ReplyDeleteThose who don't believe in media bias check out the Newsweek cover photo of Palin. That could backfire with women, actually.
ReplyDelete> What sort of coverage would you like to see?
ReplyDeleteThe same coverage we would see on John McCain if McCain had launched his political career at a soiree hosted by a former KKK Grand Kleagle.
My thoughts, FWIW...
ReplyDeletehttp://reformedtrombonist.blogspot.com/2008/10/ayers-is-bomb.html
Oh dear Lord. What "connection" did he have? Was he helping him set the bombs?
ReplyDeleteOr did he meet him on a charity board decades later when Ayers was a well regarded professor on education? Ayers also hosted a meet an greet for Obama. That's literally all the story. Obama's denounced his prior activities and done nothing to legitimate them. If you want to say that association is enough to endorse Ayer's actions that long ago, let's apply that standard to everyone else, shall we?
Why isn't there more media attention on Sarah Palin palling around with with hunters (!), with groups backed by freaking Iran?
Or how about McCain? Why isn't the press talking about his own ties to terrorists and drug runners in Nicaragua? When he sat on the board of the racist U.S. Council for World Freedom?
Let's be even-handed here: if Obama "pals around with terrorists", Palin is married to an Iranian backed political subversive, and McCain has his own terrorist ties--to terrorists who killed exponentially more people than Ayers ever did.

ReplyDelete> Or did he meet him on a charity board decades later when Ayers was a well regarded professor on education?
ReplyDeleteThat's sort of the point, I think. If Ayers had not been a bombthrower for trendy leftist causes, but a bombthrower for evil right-wing anti-abortion causes, we wouldn't be able to speak of him as "well regarded," or even as a professor, since no liberal university (and that's all but a handful) would hire him.
> Ayers also hosted a meet an greet for Obama. That's literally all the story.
What if literally all the story were that David Duke had hosted a meet and greet for McCain? Would you be dismissing that as trivial?
> Obama's denounced his prior activities and done nothing to legitimate them.
Nothing, except attend the soiree that Ayers hosted for him, and work with him on some political action committee.
And if McCain had attended a soiree hosted for him by David Duke and worked with him on a political action committee, you might have a better understanding of the underlying objection. Perhaps.
> Why isn't there more media attention on Sarah Palin palling around with with hunters (!), with groups backed by freaking Iran?
Oooooh! Hunters! As for the Iran connection, I would need to know more details (from a reputable source of some sort), and whether or not she knew that. I'm pretty sure that Obama knew beforehand that Ayers was the guy who used to throw bombs in the hippie-dippie days. It's not like Ayers hides it.
> When he sat on the board of the racist U.S. Council for World Freedom?
You might try getting your news sometime from people who aren't reflexively outraged when someone fights communism.
> Let's be even-handed here
Why start now?
> McCain has his own terrorist ties--to terrorists who killed exponentially more people than Ayers ever did.
Is this like the Kevin Bacon game? Go from John McCain to Hitler in three associations?
