The Kentucky House passes sin tax
Good for the House Republicans.

You are welcome to post at this blog. You are asked, however, to refrain from the following:
1. Name-calling;
2. Questioning the motives or integrity of people you have never met just because you disagree with them;
3. Using obscenities or other expressions not appropriate or necessary to civilized discussion;
4. Taking disagreement personally;
5. Demeaning or insulting remarks.
The host will attempt to abide by the same rules and only asks that you not provide him with the temptation to do so in return by violating them.
Failure to comply with these rules can result (depending solely on the arbitrary and inscrutable will of the host) in the deletion of offending posts and suspension of posting privileges. Such measures are more likely if you post anonymously.
Good for the good House Republicans or good for the bad House Republicans who voted for this mess?
ReplyDeleteThe target of this tax increase doesn't matter even a little bit. What matters is that the projected revenue from this increase has already been spent. As soon as the next emergency hits -- and it has already been scheduled -- they will be back to raise more taxes. This was just a test vote and key members of the Republican caucus failed the test.
I meant good for the ones who voted the right way. I'm thankful for small things.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing about this bill is that it causes illicit drug use to rise. Alcohol in particular, though cigarettes as well, are complementary goods in relation to illegal drugs, and so when their price rises it actually causes an increase in demand for the complementary drugs.
ReplyDeleteThe Kentucky legislature just directly caused an increase in demand for recreational drugs.
Hey Martin,
ReplyDeleteCould you be a bit more wishy-washy on your stance?
Was there something wishy-washy about publicly congratulating people for doing what ought to be done?
