Who's controlling Ed Brayton's keyboard
Look for future defenses of dowsing and astrology, but always remember: these are the scientific people.
Obviously Brayton thinks these are harmless party games--unlike activities that might appeal to more benevolent spirits, which, if you read Brayton on a regular basis, are to be roundly ridiculed and driven from the public consciousness.
With inconsistencies like this, I see trouble in his future. In fact, Brayton is normally a fairly rational guy--rationalistic actually. Something else must be controlling his keyboard.

You are welcome to post at this blog. You are asked, however, to refrain from the following:
1. Name-calling;
2. Questioning the motives or integrity of people you have never met just because you disagree with them;
3. Using obscenities or other expressions not appropriate or necessary to civilized discussion;
4. Taking disagreement personally;
5. Demeaning or insulting remarks.
The host will attempt to abide by the same rules and only asks that you not provide him with the temptation to do so in return by violating them.
Failure to comply with these rules can result (depending solely on the arbitrary and inscrutable will of the host) in the deletion of offending posts and suspension of posting privileges. Such measures are more likely if you post anonymously.
That's funny. I don't see anything in your comment policy that prohibits one from misrepresenting what someone else said.
ReplyDeleteFunny how your post violates almost every one of your own comment policies. Maybe you should call them "The list of things I'm allowed to do but no one else is."
ReplyDeleteEd wasn't defending ouija boards. He was making fun of people who think they actually work. That's very obvious to anyone with even a shred of reading comprehension ability.
You really need to offer an apology for this. I have gone back and read Mr. Brayton's statement and you have clearly, through error or malice, misrepresented him. You are doing your own cause a disservice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot. Brayton was mocking people who think Ouija boards actually communicate with spirits, not defending the silly idea that they actually work.
ReplyDeleteDo you have reading comprehension difficulties, or did you simply find misrepresenting the truth to be more enjoyable than honesty?
I have to agree. This post is nothing short of an embarrassment, demonstrating a rather profound absence of reading comprehension on the part of its author.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, you really should admit that you've misread (I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're not deliberately misrepresenting) Brayton's remarks.
ReplyDeleteWe all make mistakes. One measure of a person's quality is their ability to admit their mistakes.
So which is it Cothran? Are you just making this all up, or are you just too dumb to properly comprehend the intents of others?
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear your take on this.
Zach,
ReplyDeleteI responded to this yesterday on the main page.
